Benefit Actions

Open Enrollment for 2020 benefits has ended.

Coverage is effective January 1 through December 31, 2020. You cannot change your elections during the year for pretax benefits unless you report a qualifying “life event.” Review the 2020 Open Enrollment Guide for details about your benefit options.

Benefit options What you need to do

Health Care
(You and Oxy share the cost)

Action required to:

  • Enroll new dependents.
  • Drop or change coverage.

No action required:
To continue current medical and dental options and coverage levels in 2020. You’ll pay 2020 contribution rates.

Vision
(Employee-paid)

Action required to:

  • Enroll yourself and new dependents.
  • Drop or change coverage.

No action required:
To continue current vision coverage in 2020.

Health Savings Account (HSA)
(Employee contributions optional)

Action required to enroll in an HSA for 2020.

  • You must be enrolled in the Aetna HealthFund medical option to participate in the HSA.
  • You can change your HSA election during the year by calling the OxyLink Employee Service Center.
  • Medicare-eligible employees may not contribute to an HSA. If you become Medicare-eligible in 2020, you should discontinue HSA contributions at that time to avoid any tax penalties.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
(Employee-paid)

  • Health Care FSA
  • Dependent Care FSA

Action required to participate in an FSA in 2020.

Note: If you enroll in the Aetna HealthFund medical option, you may only participate in a Limited Purpose Health Care FSA.

Long-Term Disability (LTD)
(Employee-paid)

Action required to:

  • Increase your coverage, without providing proof of good health.
  • Decrease or cancel coverage.
  • Enroll for the first time. You will need to apply for coverage by completing a LTD Health Statement and submitting to Prudential for approval.

Note: Pre-existing conditions apply.

No action required:
To continue your current level of LTD coverage in 2020.

Group Universal Life
(Employee-paid)

No action required.
You can make changes anytime on the MetLife website:

  • Enroll or increase GUL coverage for yourself and/or your spouse. Proof of good health will be required.
  • Enroll a child (employee must be enrolled to elect child coverage).
Voluntary Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D)
(Employee-paid)

Action required to change your current elections for 2020. However, you may enroll anytime during the year.

No action required:
To continue your current level of AD&D coverage in 2020.

Group Legal Insurance
(Employee-paid)

Action required:
To enroll or drop coverage. You must “waive” coverage during Open Enrollment to discontinue your participation in 2020.

No action required:
To continue your current level of Group Legal coverage in 2020.

NOTE: If you elect coverage, you must remain in the plan for the full benefit year until December 31, 2020. You can’t drop or change coverage until Open Enrollment for 2021 benefits. If you don’t enroll for coverage during Open Enrollment, you can enroll later in the year only if you experience a qualifying “life event.”
